TechStyle Haus Update

In the Solar Decathlon, students from twenty universities all over the world will present their solutions for energy-efficient housing. Each entry is unique, but all will be judged in the same ten categories.

TechStyle Haus is a collaboration of students from Rhode Island School of Design, Brown University and the University of Applied Sciences, Erfurt, Germany, and the first ever Solar Decathlon entry made of fabric. The house is projected to produce 50% more energy than it consumes!

The TechStyle Haus assembly is nearing completion in Versailles, with the official opening of the European Solar Decathlon on June 28. The free event will be open every day through July 14.

Please check out the links here for a more complete view of the event. You can vote for your favorite house, even if you can't get to Versailles!

Transformit assisted the TechStyle Haus team with resources and expertise in constructing the fabric interior of the house.

* “A Passivhaus is a building, for which thermal comfort can be achieved solely by post-heating or post-cooling of the fresh air mass, which is required to achieve sufficient indoor air quality conditions – without the need for additional recirculation of air.”
