The Art of Giving Gala

Downeast Magazine threw a party for their 60th anniversary this summer at the Portland Company.  The theme for the party was The Art of Giving Gala. Artists Alex Katz, Angela Adams, Eric Hopkins, Renee Bouchard, William Wegman, and Barbara Ernst Prey all donated works of art for auction to raise money for their charity of choice. That is Wegman with one of his Weimaraners listening intently on what Cindy has to say about the installation. We Transformed the old shipbuilding warehouse into a festive environment, and when the sun set, all of the fabric glowed from the uplighting.  The front room has a 40' lofted ceiling which resembles a cathedral in section, so the line of Sentries at each column interpersed with Star Drops seemed like a natural choice. A pair of Sea Fans marked the way to the back room where food, drinks, and live music created the heart of the party.  Smaller Sentries, and Moonrays flanked the columns in this room with shorter, 20' ceilings. At the far end of the room, two cobalt blue Crescendos divided the space from the food service and provided a bckdrop for the bar.
