### A Forest Canopy

Guildford Town Centre, Surrey, BC, Canada, has recently undergone a major expansion and renovation: In addition to adding numerous stores, the mall's public spaces have been refreshed with a brighter color scheme and new decorative elements. Our part was to make and install more than thirty circular disks around the mall's structural columns. The disks are intended to call to mind a forest's overhead canopy.

The disks had to be "closed" around the columns after assembly, and suspended from the ceiling structure, sometimes more than forty feet above the floor. The closure was made with very small zippers, invisible to all but trained eyes.
